An anti-collision sensor for an EOT (Electric Overhead Travelling) crane is a safety device designed to prevent accidental collision between:

  • Two or more cranes operating on the same runway

  • A crane and fixed end stops / walls

  • A crane and other obstructions in its travel path

Working Principle

The sensor continuously monitors the distance between the moving crane and a nearby obstacle or another crane. When the distance reduces below a preset safe limit:

  1. Warning stage – visual/audible alarm is activated

  2. Control stage – crane speed is reduced or motion is stopped automatically

This ensures smooth deceleration and avoids mechanical impact.
