An anti-collision sensor for an EOT (Electric Overhead Travelling) crane is a safety device designed to prevent accidental collision between:
-
Two or more cranes operating on the same runway
-
A crane and fixed end stops / walls
-
A crane and other obstructions in its travel path
Working Principle
The sensor continuously monitors the distance between the moving crane and a nearby obstacle or another crane. When the distance reduces below a preset safe limit:
-
Warning stage – visual/audible alarm is activated
-
Control stage – crane speed is reduced or motion is stopped automatically
This ensures smooth deceleration and avoids mechanical impact.
Key Features
-
Adjustable sensing distance
-
High reliability in industrial environments
-
Fast response time
-
Works in tandem with crane PLC/VFD control
-
Fail-safe output (relay or digital signal)
Safety & Benefits
-
Prevents structural damage to cranes and buildings
-
Reduces downtime and maintenance cost
-
Enhances operator safety
-
Complies with industrial safety standards (ISO / FEM / IS)
Typical Applications
-
Multiple EOT cranes on a single runway
-
Long-span industrial sheds
-
Steel plants, warehouses, power plants, workshops
